Built in Parkhurst by Poseidon Pools CQ, this compact courtyard pool has now been recognised at the SPASA Queensland Awards of Excellence 2026 as the Regional Gold Winner for Fibreglass Pool up to $60,000.

The result is a calm, resort-style outdoor space that feels like it was planned with the home from day one. The brief called for a family-friendly pool that suited the homeowners' lifestyle, budget and available space, while working around an established house, patio area and pool house.

That meant every decision mattered: pool position, fencing allowances, drainage, landscaping, concrete access and how the finished space would flow from the home. Poseidon Pools CQ worked closely with the homeowners through drawings, ideas and site planning to create a pool that looks effortless, even though the build required careful coordination behind the scenes.

SPASA Queensland Regional Gold Recognition

On a tight courtyard block, the details had to line up carefully so the pool, surrounds and existing home all worked together. For Poseidon Pools CQ, the win is a proud recognition of local design and construction work in Central Queensland.

A Compact Pool With Big Usability

The pool selected for the project was an Aqua Technics Bederra in Silver Mist. Internally, it measures 7.45m x 3.8m, with depths ranging from 1.31m to 1.72m.

The rectangular layout keeps the space clean and modern, while the beach-style entry, easy-access steps, bench seating and deeper swimming area make it practical for relaxing, wading, playing and swimming.

The Silver Mist finish gives the water a bright, polished look and pairs beautifully with the surrounding timber, windows and courtyard architecture. The pool also features a non-slip floor, four coats of gelcoat and Aqua Technics Pool ColourGuard technology, designed to help protect the finish against Central Queensland's strong UV conditions and everyday pool chemistry.

Precision Where There Was No Room For Error

What made this project stand out was not just the pool shell. It was the way the entire space had to be resolved.

The backyard had limited access, existing structures and tight tolerances. Every stage needed to be thought through before work began so the pool could be placed correctly and the surrounding outdoor area could still function beautifully.

In a smaller courtyard, small mistakes can become very visible. On this project, the team had to consider the pool position, fencing, drainage, landscaping, concrete access, the outlook from inside the home and how people would move between the patio, pool and pool house.
