What pool types and shapes is the Skimmi compatible with?

The Skimmi works with any pool shape — rectangular, round, free-form, kidney shape — and is designed for pools up to about 65 ft in length.

How does the Skimmi get powered? Do I need to plug it in?

It is solar-powered: it has an auto sun-detection feature so it will find sunny spots in the pool to recharge itself.

Can I control the Skimmi from my phone or remotely?

Yes, it has Bluetooth connectivity and you can use the “MyDolphin Skimmi” app to monitor cleaning modes, check solar charge status, view temperature data and even manually steer/control the unit.

What kind of debris can it collect, and where does it clean?

It is designed to skim the water surface, collecting leaves, bugs, pollen and other floating debris, plus items that cling to the wall surface.

What is the filter type / how easy is maintenance?

It uses a coarse-filter basket for debris collection. Maintenance is simplified — you lift out the basket, rinse it and reuse.

What kind of sensors/navigation does it use?

It is equipped with above- and below-water infrared sensors plus an automatic navigation algorithm for obstacle avoidance and full surface coverage.

How about warranty and support?

Can it operate at night or only in daylight?

Because of its solar charging, it charges during the day and can continue to clean using stored energy — so yes, it has some capability during non-sun hours depending on charge.

Does it replace my pool pump or filtration system?

No. It is a surface skimmer designed to augment your pool maintenance — it does not replace your main filtration/pump system. It skims debris on surface rather than full-submersed filtration. (Inferred from how it’s described as a surface skimmer.)
